Mikhail Akbashev, MD
“Mikhail has distinguished himself with significant administrative serve to Grady Memorial Hospital despite the clinical expectations of the junior faculty members…” “Since February 2016 when he began in the role of co-medical director of the Anticoagulation Clinic Mikhail has made tangible improvements in our anticoagulation practices over the past 18 months…” “[He] hired and trained multiple new staff members, led pharmacy and information technology colleagues in an effort to develop quality metrics, and refined the outpatient referral process to reduce a significant backlog. Complementing these efforts focused on the outpatient setting, Mikhail has made significant accomplishments in effective and safe utilization of anticoagulants on the inpatient side. With pharmacy partners he has developed anticoagulation order sets and best practice advisories.” “Mikhail has gone above and beyond what is expected of junior faculty members. Most importantly his efforts have already yielded benefits to our patients at Grady, improved the quality of care delivered, and made that care safer.”

Paula Frew, MD, MPH
“It is no understatement to say that she helped propel places like the Emory Hope Clinic from its stature as a small Phase 1 clinical trail operation into the behemoth of clinical trail entity it is now due to her work with the undeserved communities and campaigns she developed to lead us towards its current clinical trial successes.” “She created the first community advisory board there (Hope Clinic) and grew its community engagement program into a world class leader in vaccine and prevention research.” “As a researcher, educator, advocate, and outreach leader, she has served at an intersection that has resulted in advances for HIV/AIDS, immunizations and vaccine development, and maternal-child health disparities and access inequities.”
“Her work with community advisory boards, the Atlanta Prevention Research partnership coalition, clinical research units, and faith organizations exemplify her commitment to effectively harnessing the power of collaboration to improve health outcomes…”
