In what division do you work, and who is your mentor?
I work in the Division of Cardiology for the Department of Medicine. I also direct the Emory Clinical Cardiovascular Research Institute. No mentors. I have, however, mentored 50 trainees in the last five years.
Briefly describe your research. Why is it important?
Clinical research areas of interest in Cardiovascular diseases: Translational Vascular Biology
- Investigation of regenerative capacity and stem cells as markers and therapeutics in advanced heart disease
- Investigation of genomic, metabolomics and proteomic biomarkers to identify patients with cardiovascular diseases who are at high risk for adverse outcomes.
- Cardiovascular health disparities
What do you like most about Emory?
I enjoy the highly collaborative environment.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I read and spend a majority of my spare time writing grant applications.
