Educator Spotlight: Alia Lepere

1.) Tell us about yourself.
I recently completed my residency at Emory in Family Medicine and am now working as a Hospitalist at Grady. I moved to Atlanta when I was 5 from Dar-es-Salaam, but have been in Atlanta so long it’s where I identify with the most.

2.) Why did you go into medicine?
Both my parents were physicians and it developed my interest early on in medicine and helping others.

3.) What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I love working with medical students and enjoy teaching procedures, critical thinking and learning to have a good work-life balance.

4.) Dogs or cats or something else?
I am most definitely a dog person! I have two adorable little dogs myself.

5.) What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I like taking my dogs to the Piedmont Dog Park, walking on the beltline or squeezing in a Bikram Yoga class after work.
