The J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program recently hosted the annual Chiefs’ Roast and Toast to honor (and roast) the 2018-2019 outgoing chief residents, Marc Allard-Ratick, Dave Gupta, Bailey Hunkler, John Marshall, Emily Poppens, and Dustin Staloch.
All speakers highlighted the most important qualities of Emory’s internal medicine residency program, including lifelong friendships, unwavering commitment to patient care, collaborative work environment, and the invaluable mentorships.
“This place is full of people who move back and forth between friends and mentors,” said Dustin Staloch, MD, outgoing Emory University Hospital chief resident. “This year has been an absolute blast, and I’ve made deeper friendships than I ever expected while growing clinically.”
In addition to heartfelt speeches from the residency leadership team, personal reflections from the departing chiefs, and a laughter-filled video “roast” created by the 2019-2020 rising chiefs, the event also distributed awards to faculty, residents, fellows, and staff who have shown dedication to Emory’s internal medicine residency program.
