As part of its commitment to promote and champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in academic medicine, the Alliance for Academic Internal Medicine will host a free five-part DEI webinar series. The first webinar in this series is Tuesday, February 25, from 3-4:30 p.m. EST. This webinar will set the stage for the series by providing information on key terminology and challenges related to DEI as well as defining the value proposition for addressing DEI at your institution. The webinar will discuss DEI issues unique to academic internal medicine including recruitment and retention, mentoring, promotion, healthcare disparities, and pipeline development.
Speakers include the Department of Medicine’s Jada Bussey-Jones, MD, vice chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and chief of General Medicine and Geriatrics, and Kimberly Manning, MD, associate vice chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. Sylk M. Sotto, EdD, MBA, MS, vice chair for Faculty Affairs at Indiana University School of Medicine, will also present.
Learning Objectives

• Recognize, understand, and use common DEI terminology
• Identify and understand DEI issues and challenges unique to academic internal medicine
