What is your professional background? I got my undergraduate degree at Washington University in St. Louis and my medical degree at Wake Forest University. I trained in Internal Medicine (Primary Care track) and Infectious Diseases at Emory. I was an officer in the Epidemic Intelligence Service at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. After my training, I took a position as a staff physician in the ID Section of the Medical Specialty Service Line at the Atlanta VA and was tasked with creating a program to bring the newly approved curative direct acting antiviral therapy to veterans with chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection.
In what division do you work, and who is your mentor? Division of Infectious Diseases – I have been mentored by David Rimland (now retired) and Lesley Miller.
Briefly describe your research. Why is it important? Most of my research has focused on the treatment, care delivery, and outcomes of veterans with HCV. We just entered a new era of HCV treatment a little over 5 years ago, so it has been important to review our clinical experiences and evaluate what has worked and what unexpected events may occur to better inform HCV management.

What is your favorite movie or TV show? “Jack Ryan”
What do you like to do in your spare time? I enjoy spending time with my family, doing yoga, and watching figure skating.
What is a fun fact about you? I coached figure skating for five years before I started medical school.
