Department of Medicine faculty receive Emory at Grady Awards for exceptional work

Department of Medicine faculty members were recently honored as recipients of several Emory at Grady Awards. The Emory at Grady Professional Development Committee created the Emory at Grady Awards to honor the community of Grady-based faculty members.

Emory at Grady Advocacy Award

Tracey Henry, MD, associate professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, received the Emory at Grady Advocacy Award. The award recognizes a faculty member’s significant contribution in the field of advocacy, which is defined as seeking structural and policy change on behalf of patients, learners, and communities in ways that promote health equity, advance medical education, and/or improve patient care and outcomes.

 


Emory at Grady Team-Based Award

This award recognizes teams of faculty and/or staff committed to a common purpose or goal towards advancing the mission and vision of the Emory School of Medicine.

Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids faculty Maya Fayfman, MD, assistant professor; Gabriel Santamarina, DPM, assistant professor; and David Ziemer, MD, associate professor, were honored for their work in reduction of diabetic foot ulcers. Marcos Coutinho Schechter, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases, was also involved in the project.

In addition, Sonya Haw, MD, assistant professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism and Lipids, and Jason Schneider, MD, associate professor in the Division of General Internal Medicine, received an award for their work at the Gender Center at Grady.
