The Department of Medicine seeks Associate Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

The Emory University Department of Medicine is seeking candidates for the Associate Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion position. Under the direction of the Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the Associate Vice Chair will aid in the execution of the departmental diversity vision and the promotion of a culture that values and supports diversity, equity, and inclusion. This individual will report to the Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and work closely with departmental leadership, with a specific focus on developing and sustaining partnerships with residency and fellowship program administration.

Specific Responsibilities Include:

1. Supporting the Vice Chair in the development and communication of diversity and inclusion initiatives across the department’s various clinical, research, and teaching sites.
2. Working closely with residency and fellowship program administration to provide effective strategies for identifying diverse learner candidates and addressing bias in the screening and selection processes.
3. Assisting in the development of new diversity-related programs and activities that anticipate and meet departmental needs.
4. In the absence of the Vice Chair, leading the DOM Diversity and Inclusion Council and ensuring that initiatives/recommendations of the Council are prioritized and operationalized.
5. Serving as a results-oriented catalyst for change throughout the department, inspiring colleagues to achieve new levels of expertise, confidence, and productivity.
6. Other special projects to be determined in consultation with the Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.
