Emory Division of Hospital Medicine celebrates at their annual Division Awards

Written by: Mary Ann Kirkconnell Hall, MPH, Senior Medical Writer for the Division of Hospital Medicine

On Thursday, January 24, members of the Emory Division of Hospital Medicine—faculty and staff, physicians, and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs)—braved the melting snow together to celebrate the Division’s achievements over the past year and to recognize a tragic loss to the Division. Division members from each of the Division’s eight clinical sites came together at the Miller Ward Alumni house on the Emory campus for food and beverages; to support each others’ accomplishments; and to remember Ronan Cajimat, a beloved Nurse Practitioner from Emory University Hospital Midtown who passed away in January. The Division’s highest award for APPs was renamed in his honor as the Ronan Cajimat Memorial Clinical Excellence Award and was awarded to Claudia Griffin, PA, and Fabiola Cadet, RN.

Each year, the Site Directors recognize a hospitalist who exemplifies the values of their site, the Division, and the Emory School of Medicine as a whole.

This year, the winners were as follows:

EDHM has a robust, lively mentoring program run by Manpreet Malik, MD, and Annie Massart, MD. They recognized four senior mentors and 26 1:1 mentors with thanks from the entire Division.

Each year, the Division surveys all of our members for nominations for a series of awards that recognize various facets of excellence shown by members of our Division.
