Guillermo Umpierrez, MD named President-Elect of American Diabetes Association Board of Directors

Please join the Department of Medicine in congratulating Guillermo Umpierrez, MD, professor of medicine in the Division of Endocrinology, Metabolism, and Lipids on being named to the 2021 Board of Directors for the American Diabetes Association. Umpierrez is President-Elect of Medicine and Science.

The moving force behind the work of the American Diabetes Association is a network of more than 565,000 volunteers, a membership of more than 540,000 people with diabetes, their families and caregivers, a professional society of nearly 20,000 health care professionals, as well as more than 250 staff members. This cadre of professionals and volunteers are guided by a Board of Directors whose 2021 membership includes some of the nation’s foremost experts in business, health, medicine, science and other fields vital to continuing the ADA’s mission and helping people with diabetes thrive.
