The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Jennifer Christie, MD, professor in the Division of Digestive Diseases, has been named vice president of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE), starting May 2021. In her new role, Christie will serve one of the leading gastrointestinal (GI) professional societies internationally, with more than 14,000 members.
ASGE physicians have highly specialized training in endoscopic procedures of the digestive tract, including upper gastrointestinal endoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). ASGE is the only medical society that requires documentation of specific training in GI endoscopic procedures.
“I am honored and excited to help lead ASGE into an exciting future of innovation and training in gastrointestinal endoscopy,” said Christie.
