What is your professional background?
After completing my undergraduate training at Brown University, I returned home to California and completed medical school, internal medicine residency, and chief residency at the University of California Los Angeles. I then came to Emory for infectious disease fellowship where I also completed the Master of Science in Clinical Research Program. I started as faculty in the Division of Infectious Diseases in August 2021.
In what division do you work, and who is your mentor?
I am an assistant professor in the Division of Infectious Diseases. I’m fortunate to have received strong support and guidance from many in this division and am grateful to have ongoing mentorship from Jesse Jacob, Scott Fridkin, and Sarah Satola.
Briefly describe your research. Why is it important?
My research interests are in healthcare epidemiology, antimicrobial resistance, and stewardship. My current research focuses on 1) defining the epidemiology and understanding risk factors for patients with multidrug-resistant organisms, 2) using novel methodologies such as DOOR (desirability of outcome ranking) to understand clinical outcomes of patients with multidrug-resistant organisms, and 3) utilizing diagnostic stewardship to improve antimicrobial prescribing and decrease healthcare associated infections.
What do you like most about Emory?
The people and the amazingly collegial environment of the ID division!
What is your favorite movie or TV show?
My favorite movie is “It’s a Wonderful Life.” I watch it every year with my family. I have a lot of favorite TV shows, but I’m currently enjoying watching “The Morning Show” and “Ted Lasso.”
What do you like to do in your spare time?
In my spare time, I love going on walks or trying new restaurants (when it’s safe) with my two-year-old daughter and husband. I also enjoy swimming whenever I can.
What is a fun fact about you?
I once was on a Nickelodeon TV show talking about a certain type of swimming called monofinning.
