Shawanna Jackson Administrator for the Division of Renal Medicine

The Department of Medicine is pleased to announce that Shawanna Jackson has been named administrator for the Division of Renal Medicine, effective December 19, 2022.

In her new role, Jackson will be responsible for all TEC and university-based major division activities including grants and contracts, clinical operations, development and administration of TEC and university budgets, financial analysis, space management, and human resources management.

Shawanna comes to us with over 15 years of experience and a diverse background in healthcare administration, clinical research, and leadership. Prior to joining Emory, she served as the Director of Administrative Operations at Wellstar, the Scientific Center Administrative Director at Medstar Health, and worked in various healthcare and research operations roles during her ten-year tenure at Johns Hopkins University. She also worked for over six years at the National Institutes of Health.

Shawanna received her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Crisis Counseling, and Religion from Liberty University and holds a dual master’s degree in Healthcare Administration and Business Administration from the University of Maryland – University College. She is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives, where she currently serves on the editorial board for the Journal of Healthcare Management. She also volunteers as a PCORI Ambassador and Merit Reviewer for the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute.
