On Thursday, September 5, 2024, the inaugural Emory at Grady Women’s Sexual Health Summit was held hybrid at the Emory Steiner and Faculty Office Buildings on the Grady campus. This event was curated to create an engaging environment among clinicians, clinical researchers, community leaders, and students representing the diversity in disciplines and approaches towards advancing women’s sexual health. The summit’s goal is to promote conversation around innovative research and clinical programs, provide a platform for scientific progress, and encourage collaboration amongst stakeholders. More than 120 attendees were present in person and virtually, contributing to the summit’s success.
Anandi Sheth, MD, MSc, (Infectious Diseases) was one the co-chairs of this event along with Martina Badell, MD (Gynecology and Obstetrics), supported by Scientific Planning Committee members including DOM Infectious Diseases faculty, Valeria Cantos, MD, and Cassie Grimsley Ackerly, MD, MSc (Infectious Diseases), and Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology faculty, Marisa Young, MD, PhD; and Melissa Kottke, MD, MPH, MBA.
The summit hosted presentations and roundtable discussions about a range of topics that explored infectious disease prevention, person-centered care, and intentional consideration for identity, trauma, and bidirectional engagement. Additionally, leaders participated in an engaging panel discussion about How to use Institutional Infrastructure/Resources to Facilitate Women’s Sexual Health Research. The summit closed with a networking session, featuring poster presentations and table displays on the clinical and research programs within Emory at Grady.
