What is your professional background?
I have always had a desire to work in the medical profession, throughout my college career and after graduating college, I worked in a psychiatry clinic as a medical scribe, performing documentation in the EHR, gathering information for the patient’s visit, and partnering with the physician to deliver the pinnacle of efficient patient care This clinic focused on diagnosing and treating back pain, neck pain, and disorders using advanced methods without the need for surgery.
I joined Emory Healthcare in 2019, working in the Smyrna Orthopaedic Clinic where I held administrative assistant responsibilities for multiple spine physicians and joint replacement physicians for three years. Acting as the liaison for the patient and family, working with both administrative and clinical staff from multiple departments to improve the patient’s overall experience. Enhancing the patient experience by serving as the primary point of contact and administrative care coordinator for established patients and/or family members. I was responsible for collaborating with physicians and members of the care delivery team to triage, coordinate and consistently manage the patient care experience. After working in the orthopedic clinic for three years, I advanced my career with Emory to the Emory (Healthcare) digital department as Supervisor for Business Operations which entailed onboarding new contractors and employees, access and equipment requests, staff concerns, any facilities-based needs, and support with the Epic go live.
After four years of service with Emory Healthcare, I transitioned to the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine.
What is your role at Emory?
I am the Administrative Assistant in the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. I mostly support the division directors, and sometimes with faculty and staff.
How long have you worked in the Department of Medicine?
I have been with the Department of Medicine for one year. I work with a great team of individuals, I am learning more and thriving in my role.
What are you currently working on? Any upcoming projects?
Currently, I am working on faculty candidate recruitments. I am also working with the division leadership team to reach out to potential candidates and plan their visit itinerary and meetings. Our division is growing, and this is a vital part of it.
What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
For fun outside of work, my husband and I love to travel to different states/countries, attend concerts, festivals, and new restaurants. We consider ourselves “foodies”. I am also a “YouTuber” and content creator. I love producing beauty, travel, and lifestyle content for myself and different brands.
