Tell us about yourself. Where are you from?
I was born in Atlanta, but then my family moved around different parts of Georgia – Bainbridge, Cornelia, and Sunbury. I attended the University of Georgia in Athens and settled in Sandy Springs where I have lived for over 30 years.
What is your professional background?
I majored in education, and after briefly teaching fifth grade, I moved into computer software training. I started at a training company, ExecuTrain. I then moved on to provide software training and technical support for the law firm of Kilpatrick & Cody for several years. I ended up in the information technology department at The Coca-Cola Company as an Education Specialist II for eight and a half years before I took some time off to raise my two daughters. I re-entered the workforce at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta as a Project Coordinator in Clinical Education before moving under the Director of Nursing Research and Evidence Based Practice as a Project Coordinator.
What is your role at Emory?
I am a Sr. Program Coordinator in the Department of Medicine’s Office of Faculty Development.
How long have you worked in the Department of Medicine?
Since October 2022, so just over two years.
What are you currently working on? Any upcoming projects?
I am working on the Office of Faculty Development events for the first part of 2025. We are coordinating the two day Mid-Career Workshop, which is on January 31 and February 7; the CV Review Session, which is on February 26, and our annual FEED (Faculty Education, Enrichment, and Development) Conference, which is on March 28. I am also already working on the 2025 DOM Faculty and Staff Awards and Faculty Orientation for 2025. Visit our website for more information.
What do you like to do for fun outside of work?
I enjoy working out, walking/hiking, traveling, and spending time with my family.
