What is your professional background? 
I am a foreign medical graduate and obtained my professional degree in medicine from India. Subsequently, I pursued a master’s in bioinformatics from the combined program at UMDNJ and Rutgers in New Jersey. My career began in 2005 when I worked at UMDNJ and the VA Medical Center in New Jersey. Currently, I hold the position of Senior Biostatistician in the Department of Medicine’s Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology at Emory University. My primary research areas include diabetes, chronic kidney disease, Parkinson’s disease, and infectious diseases.

Which division do you work in, and who is your mentor? 
I work in the School of Medicine (SOM) Department of Medicine, in the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology. My esteemed mentors are Dr. Camille Vaughan and Dr. Phillips Lawrence.

Briefly describe your research. Why is it important?
My research focuses on several critical health conditions. Diabetes, being a prevalent and complex disease, demands innovative approaches to management and prevention. Chronic kidney disease is another area of interest, as it significantly impacts patients’ quality of life. Additionally, I explore Parkinson’s disease, aiming to enhance our understanding and develop effective interventions. Lastly, infectious diseases remain a global health concern, and my work contributes to better strategies for prevention and treatment.

What do you like most about Emory?
What I appreciate most about Emory is its vibrant academic community. The collaborative spirit among researchers, clinicians, and students fosters an environment where groundbreaking discoveries can thrive.

What is your favorite movie or TV show? 
My favorite TV show is “The Shark Tank.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?
I enjoy going on walks and immersing myself in music during my spare time.

What is a fun fact about you?
I can speak four different languages and understand at least six languages!
