What is your professional background?
I am a new critical-care faculty member at Emory. I completed my undergraduate degree at the University of Florida in Materials Science of Engineering and my medical school training at the University of South Florida. Both my residency and fellowship were at Mayo Clinic Rochester.
In what division do you work, and who is your mentor?
I am part of the Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine, and my mentor is Dr. Annette Esper.
Briefly describe your research. Why is it important?
My research focuses on two main areas of medical education and quality improvement. As part of my medical education research, I am working to develop simulation models for procedural training with the goal to improve bedside clinical skills of medical trainees. My other area of interest is in quality improvement, with a focus on systems and processes, in order to improve patient care and safety.
What do you like most about Emory?
Emory is unique in the integration of multiple critical care specialties into one uniform practice, where multiple perspectives and experiences are utilized in the day-to-day care of patients.
What is your favorite movie or TV show?
I don’t have a favorite, but I do enjoy mysteries.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to visit parks and hike the trails with my two dogs, a husky and a chocolate lab.
